On May 29, 2025, the Select Committee on the Impacts of Screens and Social Media on Young People’s Health and Development tabled its final report in the Assemblée nationale du Québec.
The report contains 56 recommendations on the issues that were examined by the Committee.
From fall 2024 to spring 2025, the Committee heard some 70 persons and organizations in the context of special consultations and public hearings.
The Select Committee conducted an online consultation from October 31, 2024, to January 31, 2025. 7,075 people participated as respondents. One of the main purposes of the questionnaire was to help gauge public opinion on various subjects under consideration by the Committee.
The Committee has chosen to make public the data collected through the online consultation. The methodological note presents the questions, the answer choices and the variables in the data.
During the weeks of November 4 and 18, 2024, the members of the Committee toured some 20 schools to meet with elementary and secondary school students in six regions: Bas-Saint-Laurent, Capitale-Nationale, Côte-Nord, Gaspésie, Grand Montréal and Outaouais.
The members of the Committee talked with young people from Elementary 5 to Secondary 5 in schools representing a diversity of milieux, including public and private schools, and Francophone and Anglophone schools.
The Select Committee was dissolved when the final report was tabled on May 29, 2025. The Committee was made up of MNAs (parliamentarians) from all the parliamentary groups represented in the Assemblée nationale.
Its steering committee, which was responsible for organizing the Committee's work, also included MNAs from those groups.
